Pregnant woman dies of flu

The flu caused one more death in Moldova. A 30 weeks pregnant woman aged 23 from Popovca village of Falesti district died after developing complications. She left two children behind. Petru Nedelciuc, director of the Balti-based Perinatal Center, has told Info-Prim Neo that the woman was admitted to the reanimatology section with bilateral pneumonia on January 31. The fetus was already dead. After several days of intensive treatment, the woman felt better and decided to go home. In a day, on February 8, an ambulance brought her back to the hospital in a serious condition. In two days, the woman was connected to a breathing machine. She died in another two days. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Petru Scoferta, head of the National Preventive Medicine Center’s viral and respiratory infections laboratory, said the woman got infected with the A H1N1 virus. Four persons have died of flu after developing complications in Moldova since the start of the cold season.
