The reform of the public health surveillance system was examined in a working meeting of Cabinet officials chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The Premier said this year starts with a series of important social reforms, including in healthcare, and the Ministry of Health, at his request, presented several proposals for reforming this sector, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

According to specialists, the public health sector reform should have been launched long ago as the current system is outdated and does not meet the people’s needs and international requirements.

“In all reforms, it is very important to show the people what we want, how the reformed system will look like and how it will work. First of all, we must agree the wanted model and then start to restructure and to make the necessary reforms,” stated the Premier, noting that the radical measures should not be feared if they have a positive impact on the system’s beneficiaries.

As a result of the discussions, Pavel Filip instructed the Ministry of Health to collect all the proposals in order to reform the system, to extend the circle of participants in consultations and to present the final conception of the reform of the public health surveillance system to the Cabinet for approval in the nearest future.
