President Maia Sandu congratulated the Jewish Community of Moldova on the occasion of the Jewish Passover or Pesach and met with representatives of the Community. The official said that Pesach is one of the most important holidays for the Jews, which symbolizes freedom, the great Exodus from Egypt and the liberation from slavery in Hebraic tradition, IPN reports.
Maia Sandu met with Alexander Bilinkis, President of the Jewish Community, and with Aliona Grossu, Director of the Jewish Community.
“Dear members of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, the Pesach is one of the most important holidays for the Jewish people, which symbolizes freedom, the great Exodus from Egypt and the liberation from slavery in Hebraic tradition. Pesach is also the holiday of spring, a period of renewal and new starts,” noted President Sandu.
The official also said that the Jews covered a long and thorny path in their history, experiencing serious challenges. “The challenges of the current times make us to give an example of humanity, solidarity and to learn from the lessons of the past. Let this holiday bring you peace and happiness! Happy Passover! A Freilichen Pesach! Hag Pesah Sameah!” said President Sandu.
She was also congratulated by the members of the Jewish Community on the occasion of Passover and was offered matzo (unleavened bread), Kosher wine and a Jewish cookbook as presents.
