The problem of air pollution in Balti municipality is close to be resolved. As a result, the three local economic entities affected by pollutants will not close their businesses. The Ministry of the Environment answered an inquiry made by IPN, saying the air is polluted by the raw material used by a company operating in the region. In several days, this company will use up the supply of polluting material.

In the May 4 field meeting of the executive, the Premier inquired about the situation in Balti municipality, given that the ecological situation there can endanger the people’s lives and the activity of economic entities. “I request the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of the Environment to find solutions to solve this problem and to avoid the situation in which over 2,500 people will remain without workplaces,” said Chiril Gaburici.

The Ministry of the Environment said the air in Balti municipality is polluted in a small area. After the executive’s field meeting at the State Ecological Inspectorate, Deputy Minister Lazar Chirica and the Inspectorate’s head Vitalie Curarari invited the administration of the mentioned companies to a meeting. The representatives of the company that uses substances that allegedly pollute the environment in the production process said they will soon finish the store of raw material and will then use material that is not dangerous for the environment.

Last year, three companies - Gebauer&Griller, Draexlmaier and Elektromanufacturing – informed the authorities that their activity is in danger because of the oxidation of their finished products, which, according to them, is caused by the air pollutants resulting from particular industrial activities in the area. A governmental commission was constituted last July to deal with this case, but it hasn’t yet presented the results of its work.
