The Chisinau City Hall has launched the cultural events staged on the occasion of the Day of Chisinau City, IPN reports.
On October 8, the cultural program “Decade of Chisinau, my dear city” will start at the municipal library “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu”. It will continue until October 14.
On October 10-15, the 16th International Children’s Folk Dances Festival will take place at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”.
On October 11-12, the National Palace will host the International Dance Sport Contest “Chisinau Open-2014”. On October 12, the municipal floral arrangements contest will be held at the children’s creation center “Artico”. The same day, the autumn sports orientation championship of Chisinau municipality will take place in all the municipal recreational areas.
On October 12-14, technical-sports competitions will be held in Vadul lui Voda town. On October 13, the Municipal Merit Award will be handed over at the Organ Hall, starting at 12 noon.
On the Day of Chisinau City, on October 14, flowers will be traditionally laid at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great, at 8am. A service will be held afterward at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”. At 11am, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will open officially the holiday by a message in the Great National Assembly Square.
In the central square of Chisinau, the Romanian Guard of Apulum will stage demonstrations. There will be launched a compact disc with songs about Chisinau. In parallel, there will be mounted exhibitions of paintings, graphics, handicrafts and books, while the district head’s offices will stage performances on platforms along Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd.
From 5pm until midnight, national and foreign singers will give a concert in the central square. Among the foreign invitees are Horia Brenciu from Romania and former soloist of Modern Talking Thomas Anders.
