Radio Vocea Basarabia announces fundraising for Cross of Salvation of Romanian Nation

Representatives of companies and ordinary people, residents of Chisinau and districts came on Tuesday, August 9, at collecting points in Chisinau, Ialoveni, Straseni, Calarasi, Ungheni and Nisporeni to donate money for the construction of the Cross of Salvation of the Romanian Nation. The action is part of a fundaraising campaign organized by Radio Vocea Basarabia on August 9 and 10, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Cross will be raised on one of the highest hills (316m) in Moldova, near the town of Nisporeni. It will be seen within a range of tens of kilometers on both banks of the Prut and at night as well because it will have high power lighting devices installed. The Cross will be surrounded by a park, where a chapel will be built and civil and religious services will be officiated. The ensemble, including the Cemetery of Romanian Heroes and the Varzaresti Monastery, situated in the same picturesque region, a place for pilgrimage and prayers for the salvation of the Romanian nation. The co-founder of Radio Vocea Basarabiei, Valeriu Saharneanu, says that the idea of such an architectural complex was inspired by his visits in Romania, where he saw such Crosses. “We thought it wouldn’t be bad to have one in Moldova. It will be installed in the place where Radio Vocea Basarabiei began its activity”, said Saharneanu. The Cross of Salvation of the Romanian Nation is a 30 meters high metal structure, built after the model of those raised in Onesti and at Putna Monastery. It was built with funds from the Dohotaru family and donated to Radio Vocea Basarabiei. “It’s a symbol of our nation, of faith and unity of the Romanian people”, said Valeriu Saharneanu. Vocea Basarabia has previously organized two fundraisings in the districts of Nisporeni, Straseni, Ungheni, Orhei, Soroca and in Chisinau. Those who want to donate for the construction of the architectural complex can come on Wednesday, August 10, at collecting points in Chisinau and civic centers in Ialoveni, Straseni, Calarasi, Ungheni and Nisporeni “We want to be together with the people, to help raising the Cross of Salvation of Our Lord, to donate money for the reunification of our nation, for people’s wellbeing, for the future of our children”, said one of the donors, Petru Puiu. Two other fundraisings have been organized before. Over 3000 people donated about 500,000 lei. The architectural complex the Cross of Salvation of the Romanian Nation will be inaugurated on August 28, in Nisporeni.
