The Republic of Moldova in the third quarter of this year had renewable power plants with an installed capacity of 521 MW, by 162 MW more than in 2023. This figure exceeds 11 times the results of 2019, IPN reports, referring to data published by the National Center for Sustainable Energy.
According to the Center, the greatest progress was achieved in the field of photovoltaic installations. Of the total progress made, 54% represent photovoltaic plants, 40% – wind power plants and 6% – other sources of renewable energy.
Individuals and legal entities installed a total of 138 MW, of which 115 MW based on the net metering mechanism and 23 MW based on the net billing mechanism.
Net invoicing replaced the net metering mechanism on January 1, 2024. The measure applied to small producers with installations intended for their own consumption.
