The General Public Transport and Communications Division drafted a decision on the rise in public transport fares in Chisinau municipality, which was submitted to the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) for examination. The Chisinau City Hall said the municipality in September will initiate public discussions on the given issue and these will involve municipal councilors, experts and representatives of civil society, IPN reports.
Municipal and private carriers will also be invited to the discussions to present the economic-financial situation of enterprises and to explain the necessity of raising the fares. “Only after the public discussions and after the viewpoint of the subdivisions of the local administration, based on the appraisals of the specialty commissions of the CMC, is made public and depending on the consultations with the CMC groups on the issue, the local executive will take a decision as to the proposal to increase the public transport fares in the municipality of Chisinau,” it is said in a press release of the City Hall.
The municipality specifies that the rise in public transport fares is requested by municipal carriers and by the 15 private carriers that manage the public transport routes.
