Prime Minister Iurie Leanca offered his condolences to the families of the eighth young people who died in a road accident in Chisinau last night. He ordered convening the Road Safety Council on August 15, IPN reports.
“We must thoroughly consider efficient measures to prevent such tragic situations. But we also must think how to reallocate financial resources from the budget of the Ministry of the Interior so as to more intensely support the patrolling police, which must be present in all the districts. The Ministry should extend the White Nights practice so as to identify and prevent cases of driving under the influence,” stated the Premier.
According to Iurie Leanca, a road traffic education course should be introduced in schools, as in other countries. Greater attention should be paid to street markings so that the drivers see them well at night too.
The Premier underlined the necessity of identifying possibilities of providing financial assistance to the families of the killed young people.
