The sales of industrial products in the Free Economic Zones (FEZes) rose by over 20%, shows a report by the Ministry of Economy for the first three quarters of 2015. The total net sales came to 3.066,7 billion lei, an increase of 20.9% compared with the corresponding period last year, IPN reports.
Sales at FEZ “Balti” grew from 783.4 million lei in the first nine months of 2014 up to 1.206,2 billion in the same period of 2015 or 1.5 times, at FEZ “Ungheni-Business” rose by 15%, while at the Free Enterprise Zone “Valkanes” – by 2.4%.
The Free Economic Zones also witnessed a 4.6% rise in investments in the period, which amounted to US$4.6 million.
Most of the industrial production manufactured in the FEZes was exported. Supplies on the domestic market represented 2.5%. The exports of goods and services from the FEZes in January-September this year increased by 18.4%. Thus, the Free Economic Zones accounted for 9.5% of Moldova’s exports in the period.
In Moldova there are seven FEZes with 155 resident companies and 6,509 employees with an average monthly salary of 5,500 lei, which rose by 500 lei on last year.
