Sergiu Mocanu still under house arrest

Politician Sergiu Mocanu will remain under house arrest. According to his lawyer Ion Dron, the Chisinau Court of Appeals Wednesday rejected the defense’s application, sustaining the decision of the first court, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Sergiu Mocanu will be under house arrest at least until July 27, i.e. until the end of the electoral campaign,” the lawyer said. Sergiu Mocanu is accused of organizing and conducting the April 7 protests in downtown Chisinau. He was arrested on April 8, released from the remand center on June 11 and placed under house arrest. On July 10, the term of the house arrest was extended.
