The firefighters sound the alarm. Over the last 24 hours alone, they struggled to contain 70 fires. Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that vegetation fires happen all over the country. The largest number of fires was reported in Ialoveni district. In most of the cases, the people set the stubble fields on fire in order to prepare the land for cultivation without realizing the danger of the fires expanding. The firefighters call on the people not to set fire to the dry grass as it burns quickly and the wind extends the fire. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, about 300 lei is spent on every intervention. Thus, approximately 21,000 lei was spent during the last 24 hours. The firefighters have dealt with over 4 000 vegetation fires so far this year.
