The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office sent to court the criminal case started over acts of corruption an abuse of power committed by persons with responsible posts from the central public administration. Six persons will stand trial in the case of the former director of the State Main Tax Inspectorate Nicolae Vicol, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the accused in this case are: Nicolae Vicol, the Government’s deputy secretary general Eduard Banaruc, a businessman, a former employee of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, a former employee of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime and an employee of the National Anticorruption Center, who was suspended from post.
Nicolae Vicol is accused of abuse of power, favoring of offenses and violation of the inviolability of private life. Eduard Banaruc was charged with favoring of offenses, while the other persons with passive corruption and violation of the inviolability of private life.
The case was remitted to the Rascani district court. The accused are investigated on the outside. The investigation of another two suspects in this case, who were put on the wanted list, goes on in a separate case.
