The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation and sent to court the criminal case against two residents of Chisinau accused of smuggling toxic chemicals and radioactive materials, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Prosecutor General’s Office says that one of the culprits in 2015 smuggled 3 kilograms of mercury and 55 grams of uranium into Moldova. Afterward, through the agency of his accomplice, he tried to sell toxic chemicals and radioactive materials for €400,000. The two were arrested by prosecutors and officers of the Information and Security Service.
The criminal case was remitted to the Rascani Court for examination. If they are found of guilty, the two will serve up to ten years in jail.
