Snowfall leaves 15 settlements in darkness

Fifteen settlements from Stefan Voda, Leova, Hancesti and Comrat district are partially disconnected from the power supply following the heavy snowfall of December 12, Info-Prim Neo reports. Diana Turcan, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, said that specialized teams are working on the spot to remedy the situation. During the day, 26 elderly persons from an asylum located in Cainari town were taken to another institution in Tanatari, Causeni after the asylum’s heating system broke down. The local road between the villages Morozeni and Vatici of Orhei district had been blocked for half an hour, until the emergency team intervened and unblocked it. The State Road Administration involved over 170 snowplows and about 300 workers in the snow removal works on December 12.
