Soviet Army Day celebrated in Chisinau

The Soviet Army Day is marked in Chisinau. Several dozens of persons, mainly representatives of the diplomatic corps, laid flowers at the Memorial Complex “Eternitate” on February 23. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Russia, Embassy of Ukraine and Embassy of Belarus as well as Moldovan military men. “Initially, the holiday commemorated the Red Army, but in Russia it is now the holiday of all men and we are glad that this tradition was preserved not only in Russia, but also in the CIS member states,” said the press secretary of the Russian Embassy Aleksei Babenko, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Nicolae Kaereak was a member of the Soviet Army 27 years ago. He said he came to celebrate the holiday of the armed forces of a great state that remained in the heart only. The Soviet Army scored outstanding victories, especially during the Second World War, Kareak said.
