Head of Parliament Igor Corman said the women’s role in developing Moldova is essential and it is very important to promote gender equality in all the areas. According to him, the creation of favorable conditions for the professional development of women will contribute to increasing the society’s potential.
The Speaker made the statements in the opening of the Public Forum “Partnership for an Inclusive and Prosperous Moldova: Women Count!”, IPN reports. Igor Corman underlined that it is very important to understand that authentic democracy can be built only with the plenary involvement of women in this process. “We can adopt laws and strategies, but many things are related to education, culture of respect and gender equality and we should all make a contribution, by the own example,” he stated.
The Public Forum “Partnership for an Inclusive and Prosperous Moldova: Women Count!” was organized by the UN Representative Office in Moldova and UN Women. It brought together women-leaders and heads of parliamentary and extraparliamentary parties, MPs and representatives of civil society. The event represented a platform for direct and open dialogue on the current and future development priorities from the perspective of Moldovan women.
