In connection with the Munich shopping center attack, the local authorities declared a state of alert all over the city. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova recommends the Moldovan citizens who are in this city to be vigilant and not to go out without necessity, to monitor the situation through the mass media and to take measures to ensure personal safety, IPN reports.

Moldova’s Embassy in Berlin and the Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main are permanently in contact with the competent German authorities so as to obtain additional information about the circumstances of the incident and the nationality of the victims and are ready to offer the necessary consular assistance.

An armed attacked occurred at a shopping center in Munich in the evening of July 22. The foreign press reported that nine persons were killed and 21 were hurt. The suspect, an 18-year-old man from Iran with dual nationality who has lived in Germany for two years, killed himself after opening fire at people in the shopping center. The police closed the public transport and the central terminal. The inhabitants and guests of the city were requested to stay indoors. About 2,000 police officers are looking for the young man’s possible accomplices.
