Endorsed by the Socialist Party, the former general prosecutor Alexandr Stoianoglo today announced he will seek formal registration with the Central Electoral Commission on Wednesday to become a presidential candidate.
“About a month ago I announced my intention to run for the presidential election. That day I was aware of the immense responsibility I had taken upon myself. I did not imagine, however, that the first barrier I would encounter would be the obstructions caused by the authorities. All the government leaders felt the need to get personally involved in the campaign against Stoianoglo, competing in insults and assaults”, Alexandr Stoianoglo told a press conference.
According to him, the entire Moldovan society is waiting for news about a joint candidate. “I’m sure there will be surprises and extraordinary actions and decisions. For obvious reasons, we cannot speak publicly about campaign tactics and strategy yet. But I can tell you openly: the consolidation of the opposition is just beginning”, the former prosecutor general said.
