Devastating floods on Greek islands in the Aegean Sea were caused by the heavy rain and severe storms that last for the third consecutive day in Greece, IPN reports.
Traffic was temporarily stopped in Mykonos, Paros and Chios. Schools were closed for an indefinite period on the islands of Paros, Mykonos, Rhodes, Kos, Kalymnos, Tilos and Symi. Hail also affected a number of areas. So far, no injuries have been reported, according to Kathimerini.
The heavy rain caused landslides and floods on many streets on the island of Paros. Rescuers saved two people trapped in the car, while many people could not get out of their homes.
A ferry on the island of Chios failed to dock after cables tore the bollards off the quays and the ship had to turn back, To Proto Thema reported.
According to Greek meteorologists, the storms will last for at least another day.
