The Customs Service announced stricter monitoring for the customs points within the Transnistrian perimeter. Vitalie Vrabie, head of the Customs Service, said during a local inspection that the insufficiently controlled section of the border is the root of many problems, facilitating such crimes as evading customs control and avoiding customs duties, IPN reports.

The official ordered the mobile teams, which function as a second control line, to intensify their activity. He also wants new mechanisms for interaction with other competent bodies in order to streamline the monitoring of the border section in question.

“It is essential to strengthen the capacity to fight crime in this region. The Customs Service, as a guarantor of the state’s security, must intervene will all its available tools to prevent any attempt to violate customs laws”, said Vrabie.
