Suspects in case of Zubresti double murder arrested

The police arrested two young men who are suspected of killing two elderly persons in Zubresti village of Straseni district two days ago. A 79-year-old man was stabbed and then struck in the back head with an ax, while his wife aged 78 had her throat cut. The crime was committed before the eyes of the couple’s daughter who suffers from an incurable disease and is deaf mute, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a note from the Ministry of the Interior, the suspects aged 22 and 24 hid in a rented apartment in Chisinau. They are from the same village and knew the victims well. One of them had helped the elderly persons with the house for a period. During investigations it was established that on the night of November 26 the suspects entered an annex to the couple’s house, where they knew that the elderly persons kept their money. They found 18,000 lei, but when they wanted to leave with it they were caught red-handed by the house’s owner. Thus, they stabbed him and then hit him with an ax in the nape. The man’s wife heard cries and went out and was also killed. Supposedly, the two had planned the offense for two weeks. They are investigated for intentional murder and face life imprisonment.
