The Chisinau International Airport has announced that it will relaunch the tender contest to lease out commercial spaces for Travel Retail & Food and Beverages activities as only one company - Lagardère Travel Retail – applied to take part. The members of the contest commission ascertained that the bidder didn’t submit all the supporting documents to qualify for the final stage, IPN reports.
“The tender contest will be relaunched and shortly we will make public additional information and the schedule. At the same time, we will consider how we can improve the process so as to attract more renowned international companies that would be willing to take part in the tender contest and invest in the Chisinau Airport,” reads a press release of the Airport.
A tender contest to lease out the commercial spaces at the Chisinau International Airport was held earlier too and only two companies – LeBridge and Lagardère – applied to take part in it. In this connection, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu said that proper competition is not ensured in such conditions. At the same time, the press reported that there were suspicions that the specifications of the first tender contest were prepared specifically for the French company Lagardère. Minister Spînu denied the reports as false, while representatives of the company said that they didn’t take part in the working out of specifications for the tender contest.
