According to a study, out of 199 international passports, the Irish passport is ranked as the most powerful in the world. The passport of the Republic of Moldova holds the 92nd position, the same as last year, IPN reports.

Nomad Capitalist has published the new Nomad Passport Index 2025, evaluating passports from 199 countries and territories based on five criteria, according to CNBC.

The methodology takes into account travel freedom, tax regime, global perception, the ability to hold dual citizenship, and the level of personal freedoms.

The index uses data from over 20 sources, including the United Nations, official tax databases, and civil rights organizations, to provide a comprehensive perspective on the value of a given citizenship.

European countries dominate the top ten positions in the ranking, with Ireland taking the lead, followed by Switzerland and Greece.

The Irish passport scored 109 out of a possible 120 points, thanks to its combination of visa-free mobility, a competitive tax system, and openness to dual citizenship.

At the bottom of the ranking are Afghanistan, Yemen, Eritrea, Iraq, and Pakistan, characterized by highly restricted international mobility and limited personal freedoms.
