Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu on the public television channel said that judging by the price at which Energocom currently purchases electricity on the commodities exchange, there are no reasons for adjusting the electricity charges. However, a final decision in this regard is taken by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER).

"Looking at the way the market evolves and the price at which Energocom purchased electricity from the commodities exchange and based on bilateral contracts, at the moment there is no need to adjust the charges," said Dorin Junghietu.

The official told about the sources from which Moldova currently buys electricity, noting that the state benefits from a number of import options in order to ensure energy security. "The Republic of Moldova purchases 37% of the necessary electricity from the OPCOM exchange. 36% of the electrical energy is bought based on bilateral contracts. 15% is produced and purchased from Moldova's renewable resources and 12% constitutes electricity generated by thermoelectric plants,” he stated.

As for the Isaccea-Vulcănești-Chisinau electricity power line, the minister said that it will be ready by the end of 2025. "We had meetings with all contractors. We agreed all the tasks. All the parties are striving to complete the project by the end of the year,” said the minister.

It is noteworthy that the Government, with the financial assistance of the European Union, continues to compensate household consumers for the higher electricity charges. The first 110 kWh of power consumed each moth will be compensated by December 2025.
