Three employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Russian Federation have been declared personae non gratae. The informative note was handed over to Ambassador Lilian Darii, who was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, IPN reports.

The Ministry said that the decision was taken in response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats from the Republic of Moldova last week.

In the note transmitted to Ambassador Lilian Darii, the Russian Foreign Ministry says that the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova operates on the basis of the Vienna Convention and any attempt to accuse the Russian diplomatic mission of interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova is unfounded.

The Russian diplomats were expelled from the Republic of Moldova after the Security and Intelligence Service revealed that the diplomatic mission, under the coordination of the Russian intelligence services, helped MP Alexandr Nesterovschi, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison, to take refuge in the Transnistrian region.
