A policeman and another five men from Orhei district are accused of trafficking in human beings. According to the police, in 2012-2015 these recruited three men to force them work at a sheepfold in the district without remuneration, IPN reports.
One of the victims, who was arrested by the police in a case of theft, was taken by the policeman to the sheepfold. The sheepfold owner paid 4,000 lei for him. The victims were forced to work there, being threatened that they will be beaten. Two of them tried to run away, but the culprits found them at home and brought these back to the sheepfold.
One of the six men forged a number of documents so as to be able to receive the invalidity pension of one of the victims, robbing him thus of over 17,000 lei. This culprit is thus accused of robbery, document forgery and fraud as well. The investigation was completed and the case was sent to court. The offenders, who are aged between 21 and 43, face long jail terms.
