Tourist guesthouses will be able to prepare and serve food and wine from their own raw materials or purchased from households. The Cabinet approved simplified activity requirements for small food producers and agrotourism guesthouses, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, adapted conditions are also laid down for small capacity slaughterhouses and units for processing and selling raw milk, through vending machines.
"It is an important bill for small producers and domestic producers so that we have simplified and debureaucratized procedures and, simultaneously, food safety is respected," stressed Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The provisions support both the trend to stimulate small enterprises’ interest in the production of food products in limited quantities (confectionery, bakery products, canned goods of various types) and the increased interest of consumers to purchase them.
As regards the granting of the status of small producer, criteria and quantities of products are set out for each field of activity, according to which the producer will be considered small, and simplified activity requirements will be applied, respectively.
"Through these measures, the local food products’ access to the market is facilitated, jobs are created and the rural economy is stimulated," said Minister of Agriculture Ludmila Catlabuga.
