The decision of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” to demand, together with the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon and the leader of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi, that the vote of confidence given to the new Cabinet by the parliamentary majority should be annulled is mistaken, said the former President of Romania Traian Basescu. This considers that Dodon and Usatyi want instability because they can cheat the voters only this way, IPN reports.
“People of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, I know that you do not trust the Filip Government. I tell you sincerely that I also do not trust it because I know who the puppeteer of Mister Filip is. As a person who loves the Republic of Moldova and its people, I need to say what I think about the country’s priorities,” Traian Basescu wrote on a social networking site.
The politician is convinced that the Platform “Dignity and Truth” needs a break of several months. “It should be clear that if the Republic of Moldova can be pushed towards a disaster, this thing can be done only through the inexistence of a government validated by Parliament. Good or bad, the Filip Government, which I don’t think is a long-term solution, can ensure stability in the Republic of Moldova. And one more thing – an alliance with the party of Strelet (acting chairman of the PLDM, e.n.), which has powerful local bodies, is not the worst thing for “Dignity and Truth”,” stated the former President.
Among the top priorities of Moldova, Traian Basescu enumerated the adoption of the 2016 state budget, restoration of macroeconomic balances, institutional stability and rebuilding of contacts related to the financing for the country with Romania and international financial organizations. “These things can be done only by a functional Government,” he wrote.
The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” joined together with the Party of Socialists and the “Our Party” in the protests against the Filip Government and demand in concert early elections. Protesters’ leaders met with representatives of the parliamentary coalition and gave them time until 12 noon on January 22 to take a decision as regards the dissolution of Parliament and calling of early elections.
