TRM asks broadcasting regulator to favor Radio Moldova Tineret

The national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) expressed its disagreement with the rejection by the Broadcasting Coordination Council of the company’s request to grant a frequency to Radio Moldova Tineret (Radio Moldova Youth), Info-Prim Neo reports. A contest to distribute radio and TV channel frequencies was held within the May 4 meeting of the Council. During the debates, most of the Council members approved of the quality of the project and the complexity and originality of the broadcast schedule proposed by Radio Moldova Tineret, but the license was given to another applicant. TRM considers that by its decision the broadcasting regulator endangers the achievement of the strategic objectives to develop the national broadcasting sector stipulated in the strategy for covering the national territory with broadcasting services for 2011 - 2015. Teleradio-Moldova asked the Broadcasting Coordination Council to favor Radio Moldova Tineret and to allot broadcasting frequencies to it as this will enable to continue the structural-institutional reforms and to fully perform the tasks of TRM for 2012.
