Employees of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company protested Friday in front of the Government's building, demanding that the company's director Gheorghe Morgoci be dismissed as he steals together with Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Morgoci is a destroyer. He does not property fulfill his duties, does not visit us to see what problems we face and in what condition the trolleybuses us” said driver Anatolie Tofan.
The employees complain that their salaries were halved after Gheorghe Morcoci became director. “We don't know were the money goes. Besides, Morgoci signs contracts and takes out loans that are unfavorable for the company,” said one of the protesters, who wished to remain anonymous.
Conductor Lidia Ciubovskaya said more employees of the company were to come to the protests, but they were threatened by the administration with dismissal if they go.
A former employee of the company Iurii Iasinskii, who came to support his former colleagues, said when Gheorghe Morgoci turned 60, he celebrated his birthday at a restaurant. He invited about 60 persons and spent 90,000 lei at a time when the employees receive miserable salaries.
Gheorghe Morgoci denied the accusations made by the employees against him, saying they are supporters of the former director of the company Vasile Rudyi and do no want to accept the new administration.
UPDATE Asked to comment on the assertions made by employees of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said they are groundless. “The City Hall and the company's administration are making joint effort to improve the situation of the company, despite the difficulties faced by the municipality. The trolleybus fares were raised with the aim of helping the company gradually overcome the crisis in which it has been for many years,” he said.
A group of pensioners headed by “Salvgardare” Association chairwomen Maia Laguta joined in with the protesters, demanding higher salaries and pensions.
