Turkish Premier to visit Moldova

The Prime Minister of Turkey Tayyip Erdoğanâ will pay a visit to Moldova at the invitation of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. In a telephone conversation with his Moldovan counterpart, the Turkish official said the visit could take place this autumn, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Government.

Tayyip Erdoğanâ noted that the Association Agreement with the European Union will bring prosperity and welfare to all the country’s people.

The two heads of Government also discussed the bilateral relations and the situation in Moldova, including in Gagauzia. They underlined the role played by the Gagauz people in the Moldovan-Turkish relations and the importance of developing the autonomous region within a prosperous and European Moldova.

The officials discussed the possibility of initiating a dialogue between the members of Moldova’s Parliament and the deputies of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. In this connection, Iurie Leanca informed that the created working group held six joint meetings and drafted a bill with amendments to about 20 laws, aimed at facilitating the implementation of the Law on the Special Legal Status of Gagauzia.
