Two investigation officers, detained for trading influence and passive corruption

Two investigation officers (a chief of division and his subordinate) within the National Investigation Inspectorate of IGP have been detained. They face criminal prosecution for trading influence and passive corruption, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, today, the division chief’s office as well as the homes and cars of the two officers have been searched. As a result, objects and documents related to the investigation were identified and collected, both officers being detained for 72 hours in the CNA isolator.

According to the materials of the case, the subordinate requested and received money in the amount of about 15 thousand euros from an economic agent, claiming that he could influence his boss not to send to the criminal prosecution body the materials for starting a criminal case for tax evasion. After receiving the money, the latter was not held accountable.
