Former member of the Liberal Party Valeriu Munteanu will run on behalf of the electoral bloc ACUM in single-member constituency No. 18 Orhei and Călărași and will have the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor, mayor of Orhei, as an opponent. “It is my contribution in support of the opposition that is united around the bloc ACUM DA PAS, a deliberate gesture full of symbolism given that Ilan Shor, who was sentenced to seven years and a half in jail, who stole the US$ 1 billion and is the “porcelain” protector of the Democratic Party, runs here,” Valeriu Munteanu wrote in a posting on Facebook, being quoted by IPN.
He said he will compete in this very difficult constituency because he has the feeling of responsibility before the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including those from Orhei, who are held hostage by the shining appearances of Ilan Shor’s ‘activity’ as mayor-convict of Orhei municipality, who does nothing but spend a small sum of the amounts stolen from Banca de Economii so as to keep his freedom guaranteed by the political and electoral services provided to Plahotniuc.
“I didn’t look for refuge on “protective” lists or in “easy” constituencies. I will run namely in Orhei in order to transmit the citizens of the Republic of Moldova a powerful message of unity around the bloc ACUM, of discouragement of the veneration of political thieves and of great encouragement of those who really believe that the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo (and their servant Shor) can be defeated,” wrote Valeriu Munteanu.
