The National Standing Bureau of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) excluded MP Victoria Cazacu, whose daughter is among the customs officers investigated for corruption, from the party. At the same time, PAS repeatedly called on Victoria Cazacu to vacate her seat of MP, IPN reports.
“We repeatedly request her to renounce the seat offered by the PAS voters in the July 2021 parliamentary elections. PAS assumed the fight against corruption as a basic principle and will not tolerate such cases within the party,” reads a press release.
Two days ago, officers of the National Anticorruption Center raided the Chisinau International Airport in a corruption and bribery case. Among the seven customs officers investigated is the MP’s daughter and the press reported that the son of Socialist MP Radu Mudreac is also among the suspects. Three of the suspected customs officers were detained, while the others are investigated on the outside. The given customs officers purportedly asked for money from passengers to facilitate the illegal taking of various goods into or out of the country.
