Works by master Eugen Doga will be performed by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”, conducted by Dumitru Carciumaru, in the Great National Assembly Square on May 9. In the concert given on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II, there will also be played works by Schubert, Bach and Grieg, IPN reports.
Eugen Doga said the victory over fascism is a victory of everyone. He noted he remembers very well the first and last days of the war in which his father died. “I remember how the troops went both to the east and to the west. I saw soldiers whose skin color was different. This means that all the people fought and I do not understand the tendency to attribute the victory to someone. Everyone fought and it is everyone’s victory,” the master said in the rehearsal for the concert on May 8.
According to the Chisinau City Hall, the concert to commemorate those killed in World War II “In Memoriam”, given by master Eugen Doga and the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Opera Houser “Maria Biesu” starts at 1pm. At 2pm, Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca will hold a conference entitled “Europe Hour” at the Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu”. It will involve young people from the municipality.
Events on May 9 will also be staged by political parties. The Party of Communists and the Party of Socialists will separately mount marches to the Memorial Complex “Eternity”, starting at 8:30 and 9:00 respectively. The General Police Inspectorate calls on the motorists to avoid the streets Mitropolit B. Bodoni, Alexei Mateevici, Hancesti and Pan-Halippa and the Great National Assembly Square in the period of the demonstrations.
