The Supreme Court of Justice does not know where to build the future Palace of Justice. Some of the offers are too expensive, while others are not suitable from geographic viewpoint. The given issue was discussed at a meeting attended by Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase on November 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The territory of the Clinical Traumatological and Orthopedic Hospital in Chisinau, which is 2.6 hectares in area, looks attractive to the Supreme Court of Justice, but is too costly for the state. The works to demolish the hospital will be expensive, but the institution is also a historical monument.
Initially, the administration of the Supreme Court of Justice decided that the Palace of Justice will be built on A. Mateevici St, not far from the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts. Minister of Justice Alexandru Tasnase said that plot of land will be sold to the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau, on which it will erect a new head office.
“The transaction will yield significant budget revenues” Tanase said, adding that the plot will be sold for 1.5 million euros and this money will go to solve problems faced by the courts working in the municipality of Chisinau.
He also said that the area is not suitable for the Palace of Justice as it is intended only for embassies and there can be built no parking lots.
Tanase considers that the territory of the penitentiary No. 13 located in Chisinau, which is to be demolished, is a good place for the Palace of Justice. But the Court's president Ion Muruianu said that area is unsuitable from geographic viewpoint.
Alexandru Tanase did not say how much the construction of the Palace of Justice will cost, but stressed the Government intends to obtain foreign grants for the purpose.
