Wine Day will take place at “Moldexpo”

The Wine Day will be celebrated at the international exhibitions center “Moldexpo” not in the Great National Assembly Square as projected, Constantin Rotaru, official in charge of relations with the press at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, stated for Info-Prim Neo. “The Wine Day cannot be staged in central Chisinau as the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kiril will be visiting Chisinau in the same period. We cannot combine the two events,” said Constantin Rotaru. Representatives of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church earlier criticized the Ministry’s intention to organize the Wine Day in Chisinau’s central square. Patriarch Kiril is to hold a service in the open air in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral and it would be wrong if people amuse themselves nearby, they said. The Wine Day was organized in Chisinau for the first time in 2002. During seven years, the holiday had taken place in the Great National Assembly Square. Afterward, it was transferred to “Moldexpo”.
