The digital signature or simply the digital identity is a USB stick. The advantage of it is that it has an unlimited number of signatures and you can operate with it from anywhere in the world. It has the same legal value as the handwritten signature, IPN reports.

With the electronic signature, one can access digital services such as Mcabinet.gov.md, can grant powers of attorney through mpower.gov.md or you can sign documents with msign.gov.md. An electronic signature is also required to access the EVOSign platform, which allows fast, free and secure authentication in over 190 government and private systems and platforms.

The digital signature can be obtained by accessing the website semnatura.md.

When accessing the first page, one should initially check whether they are obtaining the electronic signature as a natural or legal person.

The  next step is indicating personal data: name, surname, IDNP, home address and postal code. The email and phone number will also be required.

Below is the list of documents that one will need to download. More precisely, the contract, the request for certification of the public key, i.e. the signature and the payment account.

Next, the payment for the electronic signature needs to be made. One can pay the electronic signature either online, through MPay, or through cash payment terminals, or at the bank or Moldova’s Post Office. It is necessary to keep the receipt.

In addition to the downloaded and signed documents, for the file to be submitted one must prepare a copy of the identity card valid on the date of submission.

Thus, the file in its entirety contains the contract with two signed copies, the application for certification of the public key, i.e. the signature, the copy of the identity card and the confirmation of payment.

Finally, one can submit the package of documents to the nearest office of the registration service provider. The list of offices contains addresses both in the country and abroad.

The signature is collected by the person indicated in the application.

The fee for this type of signature varies depending on the period during which it is issued. The public key certification service for the qualified electronic signature with a period of validity of one year costs 200 lei. If it is valid for 2 years, the price is 350 lei.

The digital signature can also be obtained from mobile carriers. The advantage of the mobile signature is that it is easier to obtain, but the fee is per signature. The disadvantage is that it can only be used within the range covered by the selected telephone operator, including in roaming.

The mobile signature service can be activated by submitting an application to one of the stores of Orange Moldova. In the case of Moldcell, one can dial the code *222*5#ok on the mobile device and choose a package from those offered by the provider.

Starting Wednesday, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova can apply for a new internal identity document – the identity card, which also contains an electronic signature. The holders will be able to register in information systems and to sign official documents, applications or declarations without going to the offices of public institutions.
