Woman gets 14 years for ordering murder of partner

A woman who ordered the killing of her partner was sentenced to 14 years in jail by the Criuleni Court, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to the prosecutors, in 2003 the man returned to the woman from abroad. While he was away, the woman lived with another man, together with whom she decided to get rid of the victim. Being urged by the woman, the new partner, together with two friends of his who worked in the police, handcuffed the man, beat him and then threw him into the Nistu River after tying a stone to his neck. The woman paid US$3,000 to the murderers. The body surfaced and the police launched investigations. The three men who committed the murder were convicted in 2004. The woman fled the country, but has been extradited by the Romanian authorities this spring.
