A woman aged 24 from Comrat district was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for killing her nine-month old baby a year ago. According to the police, the woman covered up the child’s nose and mouth and this suffocated, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said that when being questioned the young woman denied having killed her baby, saying that this suffocated by accident. But the medical examination showed that the child died after he was prevented from breathing. Also, the psychiatric-psychological examination ordered by prosecutors revealed that the woman was mentally sound when she committed the crime.
The woman is married. When the offense was committed, her husband was in another village. The boy was the only child of the couple.
The judgment can be appealed to a higher court.
