Young people with higher education find employment easier

The young people with higher education can find a job easier, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics. 60% of the respondents, mainly from rural areas, said they found employment during three months after graduation. One third of these persons had a job before they left the education system or found one immediately after graduation. The young people needed 12 months on average to get employed – those from urban areas – nine months, while those from rural areas – about 14 months, says the study. 5% of the young persons had held a job for less than three months. 57% of those questioned said they had been registered as unemployed before they found the first job. About 5% of the young people worked abroad before being hired in the country. The other persons did not look for a job for different reasons. More than 747,000 persons aged between 15 and 34 did not have a job in the country and did not look for one. 20% of them were working abroad. About 600,000 of those who remained in the country wanted to work, but did not look for a job, mainly because they were discouraged or had to look after the children. Over 583,000 people did not want to work. 65% of them were receiving training, 16% had family obligations, while 8% were preparing to go abroad or just returned from abroad. The survey was carried out in the second quarter of 2009. It covered a sample 1,118 persons aged between 15 and 34 from urban and rural areas.
