As many as 1,062 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova on October 7, with 12 of them being import cases, while the rest local transmission cases. Seventeen of the infected persons, one of whom was a healthcare employee, succumbed to COVID-19 today, IPN reports.
Constantin Rîmiș, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, said the 1,062 cases were confirmed after doing 3,565 tests, 3,211 of which were primary ones. There are 15,000 active cases of COVID-19 of the total of 58,700 confirmed in Moldova so far. 749 patients are in a serious state and 46 of them were put on a ventilator.
According to Andrei Ciubruciu, head of the State Health Control Division of the National Public Health Agency, 126 facilities were inspected the past week, including education and medical institutions and barber’s shops, and 11 reports on the identified irregularities were issued as a result. One institution was closed.
National Food Safety Agency vice director Igor Vîlcu said they found irregularities at 14 of the over 365 commercial units examined, such as shops, storehouses, veterinary drugstores and processing units.
Sergiu Golovaci, secretary of state at the Ministry of the Interior, noted that the Ministry’s employees recorded 646 violations of the measures imposed by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission. Of the about 13,000 citizens who are self-isolating at home, 73 consciously left the place of self-isolation and reports were made against them. Among employees of the Ministry of the Interior, there are 224 active cases of COVID-19.
