1m people to be provided with drinking water over two years
Several water mains that will carry drinking water to almost 1 million people in Sangerei, Nisporeni, Falesti, Leova and other districts will be put in commission over the next two years. Serafima Tronza, head of the Environment Ministry’s Water Management Division, has told Info-Prim Neo that the residents in most of these districts will have water this year already.
There was launched a project to build a water supply and sewerage system in Nisporeni town and in Grozesti and Varzaresti villages of Nisporeni district. The implementation unit is being selected, the first report is being compiled and the works will be initiated soon.
The project to build a water main in Falesti is close to completion. In Sangerei and Balti, the water main will be laid under public-private partnership relations. This main was included in the common document of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.
In Leova district, water will be supplied to the inhabitants of Iargara town. Serafima Tronza said the authorities want to develop one more water pipe, which will go through Cimislia and Basarabeasca. The district councils agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding and to develop the Prut- Leova – Iargara – Cimislia – Basarabeasca aqueduct.
There are also projects to build water mains in Straseni and Calarasi districts and to develop the Vadul lui Voda – Chisinau – Straseni – Calarasi aqueduct.
50% of the settlements in Moldova are connected to drinking water supply systems.
