Three employees of the Scut patrolling regiment of the Chisinau police commissariat were 'disciplinarily sanctioned' for irregularities in arresting Anatol Matasaru, announces the press center of the Interior Ministry, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The ministry maintains that on January 29, the police received a phone call about the public order being breeched in front the the General Prosecutor's Office. Arriving at the place and without figuring out the essence of the occurrence, the policemen arrested Anatol Matasaru and took him to a police commissariat. The businessman was protesting. The internal probe on the case has found that, although in the actions of the protesters there were some 'unessential elements threatening the public order', the three Scut policemen admitted deviations from the ethical code of the police, from the Police Law, and from their statute, as well as from the law on assemblies, the Interior ministry posts on its web page. The Ministry commits to further undertake the necessary measures to observe the fundamental human rights, to ensure the public order and will promptly react to all the violations committed by its employees.” Businessman Anatol Matasaru, who was protesting dressed in a pig costume on the prosecutors' professional day in front of the General Prosecutor's Office, was taken by force into the police's custody. Earlier, on the police day, Matasaru tried to stage a protest in front of the Ministry of Interior dressing himself and his donkey as policemen and his piglet as a prosecutor, but was arrested by the police for allegedly urinating in public. The businessman complains of having problems with the law-enforcing bodies, which allegedly fabricated a dossier on him and he had to stay in jail. Human rights groups condemned the police's actions, describing them as unjustified restrictions of the citizens' rights and freedoms.
