60 heat supply substations will operate automatically and become more autonomous

Over a thousand buildings in the capital will have more reliable heating and hot water supply services, and power outages will no longer affect heating and hot water supply. The utility company Termoelectrica said in a press release that the modernization of the electrical equipment at Central Heat Supply Substations (CHSS) is taking place across Chisinau.

The modernization effort involves the rehabilitation of electrical connections, which will upgrade reliability, and relocation of the metering units outside the CHSSs. The upgrades will allow help to automate operations and operate equipment remotely.

"Increasing the autonomy of the equipment, as well as the automation of several operations will allow us to provide safer and more reliable services to our consumers", said Termoelectrica CEO Veaceslav Eni.

This year, Termoelectrica plans to install 22 circulation pumps equipped with frequency converters in 10 CHSSs. The new equipment will also allow to reduce electricity consumption by about 25-35%.

A CHSS is a special structure which houses a series of equipment designed to connect several buildings to the central heating and water supply system.
