80 girls from boarding institutions will receive scholarships of 12,000 lei (equivalent of $1000) for the school year 2012-2013. The scholarships are awarded by the Educational Advising Center and Orange Moldova Foundation. Applications can be submitted until May 31, at the Center’s HQ, Info-Prim Neo reports. Director of the Educational Advising Center Angela Muset declared during a press conference on Friday, April 27, that this was the second edition of the project “Scholarships for girls in boarding institutions”. The scholarships are meant to cover the girls’ expenses during their studies: accommodation, food, books and equipment for workshops. “The goals of the project are to contribute to the schooling of girls from needy families and to reduce inequality in access to pre-university, specialized secondary and/or higher education, to obtain a profession and then integrate in society as full members of it”, said Angela Muset. The scholarships will be awarded through a contest. Candidates must have a good academic situation and the average marks for the last three years of study should be higher than 7.5. The project will also provide informational support needed for the integration of young people in society- the service of information and counseling during the whole duration of the project, personal and professional orientation, so that after the studies the girls could become independent persons. Mickael Faure, chairman of Orange Moldova Foundation, said that this project was meant to develop the professional competences of disadvantaged girls so that they could be financially and socially independent, confident in their own forces and brave in their initiatives. In the first edition of the project “Scholarships for girls in boarding institutions”, 81 girls from 30 boarding institutions received scholarships.
