About 35,000 lei raised within “A Beam for Japan” campaign
The Foundation for Moldovan-Japanese Relations together with the Japanese people who settled in Moldova and those who work here managed to collect 26,100 lei, US$225 and €380 within a fundraising campaign aimed at supporting the Japan quake victims, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Foundation.
“The number of victims and persons who disappeared is very large. The history, civilization and culture give the Japanese people force to restrain themselves from expressing their feelings. We thank all the kindhearted people who contributed money,” said the Foundation’s president Valeriu Banzaru. The collected money will be deposited in the bank accounts of the three seriously-stricken municipalities of Kesennuma, Rikuzentakata and Oofunato.
A married Japanese man who settled in Moldova, Masato Nishikawa, said he would like to thank the Moldovans who donated money for the Japanese people, the artists who took part in the charity concert on April 15 and all those who helped organize the campaign. “The Moldovan people are very kind-hearted and this kindness will undoubtedly rich the hearts of the Japanese people,” he stated.
The campaign “A Beam for Japan” started on March 19, when a box for raising funds was installed inside the Foundation’s head office. A charity concert was held at the National Palace on April 15. The staff of “Moldova Concert” donated their one-day salary.
