Afghanistan war invalids to get 1,000 lei on pullout anniversary
Afghanistan war invalids in Moldova as well as the families of those who died in combat will receive 1,000 lei in lump-sum payments on the 20th anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops on February 15, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The money will be allocated from the National Social Assistance Fund and will be distributed through its local units. The recipient lists compelled by the local authorities include 256 beneficiaries, the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child said in a statement.
At present, the Ministry keeps record of 8,887 Moldovan veterans who fought for the Soviet Union in the Afghanistan war.
