BEM, Banca Socială and Unibank collected over 2.6bn lei since withdrawal of licenses

As of October 16, 2015, when the licenses of Banca de Economii, Bănca Sociale and Unibank were withdrawn, until June 30, 2021, the three banks collected 2 661 098 lei. The National Bank of Moldova said the liquidators of the three banks under liquidation continue taking measures to sell assets, IPN reports

According to the NBM, the money available in the accounts of the three banks when the licenses were withdraw and the sums collected later by the liquidators have been used to cover costs associated with the liquidation process and to clear the debts related to the emergency loans released to the three banks.

Until June 30, 2021, the bank liquidators paid a part of the related debts to the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance, the debts to which must be cleared the first. The liquidators continue taking measures to recover the loans provided by the three banks, cooperating with the investigation bodies and courts of law and working with debtors so as to fully repay the emergency loans.

In the second quarter of this year, the liquidators of Banca de Economii, Bănca Sociale and Unibank held a number of auctions to sell assets owned by the banks and property obtained as collateral.
